The Relational Situation of Whistle-Blowing and Ethical Behavior

Posted by The Situationist Staff on May 30, 2013

whistleEarlier this week, NPR broadcast an excellent (situationist) story titled  “Why Do Whistle-Blowers Become Whistle-Blowers?” by David Greene and Shankar Vedantam.  In it, they discussed recent research by David Mayer and his co-authors (Mayer, D. M., Nurmohamed, S., Treviño, L. K., Shapiro, D. L., & Schminke, M. 2013. Encouraging employees to report unethical conduct internally: It takes a village. Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, 121: 89-103).
