Would an ice flow be appropriate? Or perhaps something more civilized — a cryogenic storage chamber? Maybe if we put him on ice, when he thaws out the “situation” will have changed enough so that anti-anti-anti-anti-paternalism has been so empirically triumphant that even Posner will succumb.

In all seriousness, this wasn’t the most persuasive argument. And I’m the target audience!

If you’re born in 1939 and want big government, then it’s the enlightened and correct. Got it. Maybe his opinion is his opinion without qualifying his world view based on the year he was born. Maybe he has seen a few big government programs go wrong? FNMA is a perfect example of a government program excellently fullfilling it’s mission to sink the economy.
