I must admit I did it occasionally until a close call knocked some sense into me. I’ve been counting the people making driving errors around me on the road and whether or not they are using a phone… almost every time, about 18 out of every 20, they are using their phone. The company I work for actually decided to do something about it and we developed a phone application that helps prevent texting while driving.
