I am the great great granddaughter of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and the inheritor of over 100 family photos of her. I can assuredly say the photo posted on your website is not of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, but of Clara Barton.

Regarding sciences and math, my grandmother, Nora Stanton Blatch DeForest Barney (the granddaughter of ECS), was the first female to graduate in Civil Engineering at Cornell University (1905). A brilliant documentation of women’s successes in engineering is hot off the press: “Women in Engineering; Pioneers and Trailblazers,” edited by Margaret E. Layne, PE., published by American Society of Civil Engineers. The book is the perfect holiday gift to our daughters and sons who will build our future. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
